Review: Obsidian (Jennifer Armentrout)

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is....

Wow...Never in a million years did I think that I would become completely obsessed with a love story regarding ALIENS!!!!!!! Boy was I WRONG! This book is completely and utterly fascinating. ON the front of the book it states that "you will not be able to put it down"....well that is a TRUE statement! I found myself turning pages way into the night....This book has it all! Great plot, lots of suspense, an amazing love story, and it is a truly believable story line. This is one of those books that I was so completely involved in that I could believe it to be true. Daimon is breathtaking. He has all the qualities that make him irresistible. He is handsome, strong, protective, fierce, and loves completely. The female character known as "Kitten" to Daimon..(ha) is human but yet there is something about her that links her to Dee and Daimon and the others...She has a kindred feel for them and understands their situations....Again I will not give away any part of the story except to say that if you are wanting to read a great young adult/fantasy story then you will greatly enjoy this.....now on to #2 Onyx.....looks like its gonna be a long night with my book light ;)

I have read Enclave and am on Obsidian so it looks as though at least two of these will be on my "to-read" list next!!!! ;)

Review: Pure (Jennifer Armentrout)

There is need. And then there is Fate
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.....

People always assume that "sequels" can never be as good as the first...well in this case..they are so wrong! Pure is just full of amazingness...from intense action, to sadness, to romance....i mean where to begin? well enter Apollyon, Aiden, and Alex (hmmm just noticed they all started with "A's") and a fantastic love triangle...Im not sure who I want to pull for...hmm..the main female character Alex is fascinating..She is determined, strong, and able to face anything that is thrown in her path and let me tell you...there is ALOT...She faces so much hardship and pain and somehow comes out even better...This story is a fantastic addition to the Covenant trilogy and leaves me longing for more...If you want supernatural with none of the blood and gore of zombies and vampires then this is your story...I truly enjoyed it and cant wait for the finale!!

Review: Where We Belong (Emily Griffin)

The author of five blockbuster novels, Emily Giffin, delivers an unforgettable story of two women, the families that make them who they are, and the longing, loyalty and love that binds them together.
Marian Caldwell is a thirty-six year old television producer, living her dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and satisfying relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her life is just as she wants it to be. But one night, Marian answers a knock on the door . . . only to find Kirby Rose, an eighteen-year-old girl with a key to a past that Marian thought she had sealed off forever. From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian’s perfectly constructed world—and her very identity—will be shaken to its core, resurrecting ghosts and memories of a passionate young love affair that threaten everything that has come to define her.
For the precocious and determined Kirby, the encounter will spur a process of discovery that ushers her across the threshold of adulthood, forcing her to re-evaluate her family and future in a wise and bittersweet light. As the two women embark on a journey to find the one thing missing in their lives, each will come to recognize that where we belong is often where we least expect to find ourselves—a place that we may have willed ourselves to forget, but that the heart remembers forever.

Where to start?

This book is all about following your heart and learning your family...It is all about the process of adoption and the effects it can have on both the parent and the child. The story is well written and I found myself diving into the story...I read the book so quickly just because the interaction between the birth mother and the child was so new and consuming...yet....yes there is a yet....the closing chapters and the ending left me disappointed...I will not give any spoilers and some might have been completely satisfied with the ending but not me...It left me with the feeling that this was not the end...That they have more of the story to tell and yet this is a stand-alone? With that being said...Yes I am glad I read the book and yes I wish I could change a few things...;)

Almost finished....

Read a little more of Obsidian last night...WOW....This book has me completely enthralled....It is sooo not what I was expecting...There is action around every corner and a romance that is breathtaking....I find myself turning pages faster and faster....the whole "alien" aspect is just wild....you would think that it would be hard to understand or comprehend but the way Jennifer writes is just so fantastic that you find yourself completely in the story.....Im not finished quite yet but I have a feeling this one is headed for ***** (five) stars! :):)
