Waiting On Wednesday: Circle of Jinn (Lori Goldstein)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at
and spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Circle of Jinn (Becoming Jinn, #2)Hardcover, 400 pages
Expected publication: May 17th 2016 by Feiwel and Friends

Being Jinn is Azra’s new reality. As she grants wishes under the watchful eye of the Afrit council, she remains torn between her two worlds—human and Jinn. Soon, secrets spill. Zars are broken. Humans become pawns. And rumors of an uprising become real as the Afrit’s reach extends beyond the underground world of Janna.
Straddling the line becomes impossible. Aware of her unique abilities, Azra must not just face but embrace her destiny. But when the role she must play and those she must protect expand to include a circle of Jinn greater than her own, Azra will be forced to risk everything. A risk that means there’s everything to lose, and at the same time, everything to gain—for herself and her entire Jinn race.
In this dramatic sequel to Becoming Jinn, Azra’s story comes to a heartfelt and thrilling conclusion.

FFBC Blog Tour, Review, and Giveaway: Shallow Graves (Kali Wallace)

Shallow Graves
by Kali Wallace
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Release Date: January 26th 2016
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Horror, Zombies, Fantasy, Thriller, Contemporary, Fiction, Mystery, Supernatural

For fans of Holly Black and Nova Ren Suma, a gripping, hauntingly atmospheric novel about murder, revenge, and a world where monsters—human and otherwise—lurk at the fringes.
When seventeen-year-old Breezy Lin wakes up in a shallow grave one year after her death, she doesn’t remember who killed her or why. All she knows is that she’s somehow conscious—and not only that, she’s able to sense who around her is hiding a murderous past. In life, Breezy was always drawn to the elegance of the universe and the mystery of the stars. Now she must set out to find answers and discover what is to become of her in the gritty, dangerous world to which she now belongs—where killers hide in plain sight and a sinister cult is hunting for strange creatures like her. What she finds is at once empowering, redemptive, and dangerous.
Tense, complex, and wholly engaging, Shallow Graves is a stunning first novel from Kali Wallace.

"It was an accident, the first time I killed.
It was an instinct I didn't know I had.
I never made a choice.
The second time was on purpose."

Shallow Graves has it all..murder, suspense, horror, and paranormal aspects with a main character that is so intriguing and she pulls you right into the story.

From the very first page Shallow Graves grabbed me and had me turning pages deep into the night just to see what happened next. This was such an intriguing, different, creepy and yet utterly FASCINATING story!!

Breezy is murdered and buried in a shallow grave and when she awakens she realizes she is not really alive and yet not really alive...she is different.

"I couldn't die. No matter what I did, the wounds healed. They hurt, every single one, pain like I had never felt before. They bled, they burned, they left scars. But they healed....."

" .......All I had was data, and all the data told me was that sometime between the moment I died and the moment I woke up, I had either become something unnatural, something not alive but not either....."

Breezy then begins on a path to figure out what happened to her any why? There are so many questions in this book that make you think about life and death and the afterlife

I absolutely loved Breezy's character. She is so strong and yet angry and calculating. She is more determined than ever to use her new found "abilities" to fight evil while she is searching for answers about what happened to her and why she is like this.

Shallow Graves is engrossing, addictive, heart-breaking, unique, fascinating, and utterly creepy. AND I LOVED EVERY PAGE of this chilling YA thriller that brings out the gut-wrenching truth surrounding what really happened to Breezy and how it completely changes her life. There was so much mystery in this book and I could not wait to find out the answers.

Kali Wallace is an author to watch for. Her writing skills are fascinating and so full of emotion. Her characters feel so real and she had me completely engrossed in this phenomenal debut book from the first page to the last and when it was over....I still wanted more...Well done Kali Wallace....Well done.

Tasty Book Tours Book Blitz & Giveaway: Irresistibly Yours (Lauren Layne)

IRRESISTIBLY YOURS
Oxford #1
Lauren Layne
Released Oct 6th, 2015
Loveswept

Meet the men of Oxford magazine! In the first captivating spin-off of Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love & Stiletto series, a not-so-friendly battle of the sexes turns into a scorching office romance.
Hotshot sports editor Cole Sharpe has been freelancing for Oxford for years, so when he hears about a staff position opening up, he figures he’s got the inside track. Then his boss drops a bombshell: Cole has competition. Female competition, in the form of a fresh-faced tomboy who can hang with the dudes—and write circles around them, too. Cole usually likes his women flirty and curvy, but he takes a special interest in his skinny, sassy rival, if only to keep an eye on her. And soon, he can’t take his eyes off her.
Penelope Pope knows all too well that she comes off as just one of the guys. Since she’s learned that wanting more usually leads to disappointment, Penelope’s resigned to sitting on the sidelines when it comes to love. So why does Cole make her want to get back in the game? The man is as arrogant as he is handsome. He probably sees her as nothing more than a barrier to his dream job. But when an unexpected kiss turns into a night of irresistible passion, Penelope has to figure out whether they’re just fooling around—or starting something real.

Only $0.99 for a Limited Time

Me, My Shelf and I Blog Tour, Excerpt, & Giveaway: Pull (Anne Riley)

PULL
Author: Anne Riley
Release Date: February 2, 2016
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press

Rosie Clayton witnesses a mugging on her first night in London—and then the scene rewinds itself.
She finds herself standing in the same place again, with the mugging happening just like before, except this time a stranger steps in and stops it. There's no way the same incident can have two outcomes. Rosie thinks she’s losing her mind, until just a few days later, the stranger saves her.
The stranger, Albert, and his band of misfit crime-fighters, have the special ability to Pull, which allows them to rewind just enough time to undo a recent event. Someone is hunting Albert and his crew– and now that Rosie’s been seen with them, she’s a target too. Rosie is left with no choice but to trust Albert to keep her safe.
As Rosie learns more about this unbelievable ability and the people – if you can call them that – who want them dead, she discovers that the group’s desire for her blood might be more than mere coincidence. Each step into this magical side of London introduces Rosie to a family history that she never knew existed, and dangerous forces that could unravel her world in an instant.
Her family may be the reason they’re all being hunted—and she may be the only one who can figure out how to save them. Sure, between the lot of them, they have a few shots to get it right. The thing about Pulling, though, is you have to be alive to do it.

Anne Riley is an author of young adult fiction cleverly disguised as a high school Spanish teacher. She lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her family.
Anne began writing at the ripe old age of nine, when she penned a literary classic about… well, she doesn’t really remember what it was about, but she’s pretty sure the main characters were ferrets.
These days, she writes stories about teenagers instead of ferrets.

This is the scene where Rosie and Albert finally have a chance to talk about the strange things she's experienced--like seeing an event unfold twice, but with two totally different endings. Unfortunately, the peace doesn't last, and Rosie's questions are interrupted by a truly terrifying incident. Albert has a trick up his sleeve, though, and Rosie has seen him undo things like this before. Will he be able to fix what's happened before it becomes permanent?

“Hey,” I say. “Do you know the word—”

I stop. Albert’s gaze has flown to something over my shoulder. Alarm flashes in his eyes.

“What?” I start to turn around, but then—

Gunshots.

Dozens of them. Hundreds. Shattering the air like missiles. Screams explode from the girls next to us, from the group of guys recapping the soccer match, from my own throat.

Albert shouts, “Get down!”

I scramble to escape my chair. I can’t make my arms or legs function properly. One of the girls at the next table hits the floor. I see the hole in her chest, watch the blood puddle around her and seep into the cracks between wooden planks—but I don’t understand it.

I’m frozen in place. Paralyzed. And I’m only halfway out of my chair.

Hands on my shoulders. Albert’s voice in my ear, shouting at me to get down. He shoves me under the table. I huddle against the wall, curled up on my knees with my forehead pressed into the floor. My hands grip my skull as if they can stop a bullet. I have no protection other than this table.

I peer up at Albert. He’s staring at his watch.

Boots come into view through the chair legs. Black, leather, covered in dust. The old men are tangled in a heap, arms and legs flung into unnatural angles. The faces of several of the younger guys stare blankly at the floor or ceiling or wall. Some of them are still alive, hunkered under tables like we are. How long do we have left? A minute? Twenty seconds?

I’m going to die.

But if I’m going to die, I’m going to fight my way to the end.

My fingers find the wood of the floor. I push up until my head hits the underside of the table. Albert is crouched beside me with his eyes closed and his hands held out in front of him, palms up. He blows a stream of air through his lips as gunfire explodes around us, each shot closer than the one before. How can he be so calm when we are seconds away from being blown into shrapnel?

“What are you—” I begin, but his fingers are curling around something unseen, as if he’s holding on to a handle. Then he pulls the invisible handle toward his body, slowly, steadily. His arm muscles strain and his jaw clenches.

The inside of my gut transforms into a black hole. My entire body starts to cave in on itself.
