The planet is dying. Centuries of abuse have damaged the earth beyond repair, and now all the authorities can do is polish the surface, make the landscape look pretty to hide the disease within. Two prominent yet mysterious businessmen couldn’t fix it, either, but they did something even better. Together, they invented Chimera, the most complex and immersive virtual reality video game the world has ever known. The Cubes in which Chimera is played quickly became a fixture of this landscape: part distraction, part hospital, and almost wholly responsible for holding up the failing world economy.
Miguel Anderson is also dying. He isn’t the only one who plays the game–everybody does–but Miguel has more reason than most: When players leave their Cubes for the day, the upgrades and enhancements they’ve earned for their virtual characters leave with them. New lungs to breathe poisoned air, skin that won’t burn under the sun are great and everything… but Miguel, born as broken as the earth, needs a new heart–and soon–if he wants any hope of surviving just a little longer.
Then the two Gamerunners announce a competition, with greater rewards and faster progression than ever before, and Miguel thinks his prayers have been answered. All he needs to do is get picked to lead a team, play the game he’s spent years getting good at, and ask for his prize when he wins. Simple, really.
At first, things seem to go according to plan. Mostly, anyway. Inside his Cube, with his new team–including his best friend–at his back, Miguel begins his quest. He plays recklessly, even dangerously, for someone whose most vital organ could give up at any moment, but his desperation makes him play better than ever. The eyes of the world are on him, watching through status updates and live feeds, betting on his chances. With greater rewards, though, come greater risks, and the Gamerunners seem to delight at surprising the competitors at every turn. As he ventures deeper into a world that blends the virtual and the real to an unsettling degree, Miguel begins to wonder just why the game was invented at all, and whether its stakes could be even higher than life and death.

Her life might well be over.
In Hungary, Anna discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. Not the people around her, from her aloof cousin Noémi to the fierce and handsome Romani Gábor. Isolated from the only world she cares about, Anna still can’t seem to stop herself from breaking spells.

amazon

Excerpt: After dinner Zack took her to the falls. There was a long bridge crossing the water. They used to go there all the time as kids. That bridge was where Zack had asked her to Prom. The sound of water falling into the pool of water surrounded them. The moonlight reflected off the water. The night was slightly cool. Zack held her hand as they walked across the bridge. “Do you remember coming here during the summer? We would spend all day in the water,” said Zack. “What I remember was my preteen antics to get you to notice me.” Diana almost winced remembering all her crazy antics. “Oh, I noticed, but you were my sister’s best friend. My twin sister. I would have violated the twin code.” “The twin code, huh. I’ve never heard of it.” “That’s because only twins know what the twin code is.” “Right. You know what I think Mr. Connelly? I think the twin code is non-existent.” There was a breeze, and Diana shivered. Zack stopped them in the center of the bridge. He wrapped his arms around her. “Better?” He asked. Always the gentleman. “Much,” Diana said. She laid her head on his chest and listened to the steady beat of his heart. In Zack’s arms she could almost forget all the pain and loss she had experienced. He made things right in a world that had gone so very wrong. “Diana,” he said her name softly as his hand stroked up and down her back. She lifted her head to look into his eyes. “Yes.” “Today. That kiss. I’ve been waiting a long time to do that. Now that I have, I don’t think I ever want to stop.” He lowered his head to hers slowly, looking into her eyes. Giving her time to stop him. She leaned up on her tiptoes and met him halfway. When their lips met, it was with tenderness and love cultivated over a lifetime of friendship and shared experiences. This kiss was between two hearts that had long yearned for this very moment. The moment when two hearts would become forever linked as one.

Excerpt: He handed her a glass of red wine then busied himself at the stove with dinner. Diana watched him as she slowly sipped the wine. She enjoyed watching the muscles on his back stretch the fabric of his shirt when he bent over. A perusal of the view further down was even better. He closed the oven, turned, and looked at her. A smile played on his lips as he slowly walked to her. He had caught her staring at his very sexy backside. “Miss Mathison, I do believe you were checking me out,” he said. She held his piercing gaze. “And what if I was?” He wrapped his arms loosely around her waist. “I have absolutely no objections. However, I’d say that entitles me to at least a kiss.” “That sounds like a fair trade.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. He leaned down and captured her lips in a slow, teasing kiss meant to set her on fire. She was certain that was his goal because she felt herself being slowly consumed by heat only Zack could evoke in her. If he could do this to her with a kiss, she was afraid of what would happen if he made love to her. She’d probably go up in flames leaving a pile of ashes in his bed. That thought made her smile, almost making her laugh. “Do you find my kisses laughable?” He asked. “Not even remotely,” she said. “Dare I ask why you were smiling when I was kissing you?” She shook her head. “Believe me, you don’t want to know—well, maybe you would. But I’m not telling.” “Ah, so it was something good. A fantasy that included me perhaps?” Just then the timer on the oven began beeping. “Saved by the bell,” she said, lifting her glass of wine to her lips. He shut off the timer and pulled dinner out of the oven and set it on the counter. “You aren’t getting off that easy. I’ll find out. Question is, should I use bribery or coercion?” He asked. “Go for bribery,” she replied, outrageously. “In that case—” He lifted a small bite of filet mignon to her lips with his fingers. She took the bite he offered, it tasted better than anything she ever had, possibly because it also had a taste of Zack. “That is delicious. Anymore of that and you’ll soon have me revealing all my thoughts to you.” “I want to know your thoughts, especially if they include me. I want to know what’s in your heart, particularly if there is a place for me. Because my thoughts and my heart are filled with you. Only you. Always you.”

Goodreads

When a mysterious stranger is your only hope...
The scars of the past have left their mark, both physical and emotional, on former military pilot Seth Erickson. Off-grid in the far reaches of the bitter Alaskan wilderness, he wants only to be left alone with his ghosts. But he can’t ignore a woman in need—beautiful, stranded and nearly frozen with fear.
Summer Silva never imagined that the search for her missing sister would leave her abandoned on a wintry back road, barely escaping with her life from a cold-blooded killer for hire. Now, hiding out in the isolated cabin of the secretive wounded warrior who saved her, Summer knows she must do what she fears most. Putting her trust in a stranger is all she has left.
All defenses are down

1. What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

I wrote The Stranger after my kids dragged me out of the comfort of my writing studio. I’m not exactly the outdoor type, you know, but Alaska was totally stunning and irresistible to my writer’s mind. Hiking the backcountry, riding in tiny airplanes, floating in aluminum boats over icy lakes, it was all new to me. I knew I wanted to drop a couple of feisty characters haunted by their demons in the middle of all that spectacular, ruthless beauty and watch them deal with the challenges as their lust turned to love and then into forever love.

In The Stranger, Alaskan tycoon and ex-military pilot Seth Erickson is fighting his own demons, but when he finds Summer Silva, a beautiful, warmth-loving, Miami woman stranded in the frozen wilderness, he’ll do everything in his power to keep her safe from murder, treason, and the ruthless Alaskan winter.

2. Who is your favorite character in The Stranger

I love Seth Erickson. He’s a powerful Alaskan tycoon dealing with a quarreling family and a hostile takeover attempt. He’s also a helicopter pilot, a wounded warrior struggling to recover from injuries he sustained while serving in Afghanistan, a man haunted by his past and fighting his own demons. And did I mention that he’s delectable? Seth is the classic alpha, blunt, systematic and precise, always cool and in command, a man who despises emotion and sticks to his icy logic… that is, until he meets The Stranger’s heroine, Summer Silva. When his ice melts under her fire, then we’ve got a story going.

3. Which came first, the title or the novel?

The novel came first. In fact, I had several working titles for this book. The first was Dream Chaser. Then it was Summer in Alaska, followed by Alaskan Summer. Then the talented folks at Carina Press suggested The Stranger. We snatched it up and we were in business.

4. What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?

Good question! There were a few. I have to say that from a fun point of view, I love the scene where Summer’s frightened by an Alaskan brown bear, which is a grizzly in the lower forty-eight. It was inspired by my very own surprising encounter with a blond bruin, so I think I know exactly how Summer felt. The flying scenes are near and dear to my heart as well, since I flew some of those routes during the research phase.

5. Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you've learned as a writer from then to now?

Patience, grit and perseverance. She who writes to The End gets to tell the story.

6. What do you like most about the cover of the book?

I think the cover of The Stranger is a combination of different types of gorgeous. There’s nature’s beauty, of course, nicely displayed in the background as the legendary Alaskan Range rises over the tundra and reflects on a glassy lake. Very appropriate, since Alaska is the third protagonist of this epic romance. But then there’s the human gorgeousness, the hunk who graces the cover and still to this day makes me swoon every time I set my eyes on him. Yep, I like him a lot.

7. What’s up next for you?

Well, let’s see. The Stranger is my newest romantic suspense and the second book of my Wounded Warrior Series, following on the heels of the Amazon bestseller, The Asset. One very cool fact about the series is that you don’t have to read the books in any particular order. Each novel is a standalone journey.

I just penned The End of my newest romantic suspense, the third novel of the Wounded Warrior series, tentatively entitled The Game Warden. For research, I went to Africa. Someone had to make the huge sacrifice. Right?

In The Game Warden, Jade Romo, an ex-marine turned YouTube photojournalist travels to Africa and faces the ruthless poachers who want her dead and Matthias Hawking, the mysterious game warden determined to capture her heart.

I also write an erotic romance series which pushes the boundaries of my romantic suspense by ramping up to maximum heat. I call it my naughty series for my naughty readers. Following on the May release of At the Brink, To the Edge is out in November. The story goes something like this:

To learn about kink, Clara Luz had to learn the ropes, but she never expected to be so compromised she’d need rescuing by none other than Noah Blake, the first man she ever loved, the ex-Navy SEAL who almost destroyed her, the wounded warrior determined to reclaim Clara’s heart and fight for redemption to the very edge of sexual obsession.

I can’t wait to introduce Matthias and Jade and Noah and Clara to my readers.

10. Is there anything that you would like to add?

Thank you so much for having me over. If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure set against Alaskan’s majestic background with a heroine who is completely out of her element but relentlessly brave and an alpha hero who will do anything to protect her, then The Stranger is for you.

Author: Bethany Wiggins
Publisher: Crown Books For Young Readers
Publishing Date: February 21, 2017

Fans of Julie Kagawa’s Talon and Renee Ahdieh’s The Wrath and the Dawn will devour this action-packed fantasy adventure about a girl who chooses to surrender herself to a deadly dragon rather than marry an enemy prince.
When two warring kingdoms unified against a deadly menace laying waste to both their lands, they had to make a choice: vow to marry their heirs to one another, or forfeit their lives to the dragon.
Centuries later, everyone expects the sheltered princess Sorrowlynn to choose the barbarian prince over the fire-breathing beast—everyone, that is, except Sorrow, who is determined to control her own destiny or die trying.
As she is lowered into the dragon’s chamber, she assumes her life is over until Golmarr, the young prince she just spurned, follows her with the hopes of being her hero and slaying the dragon. But the dragon has a different plan. . . .
If the dragon wins, it will be freed from the spell that has bound it to the cave for centuries. If Sorrow or Golmarr vanquish the dragon, the victor will gain its treasure and escape the cave beneath the mountain. But what exactly is the dragon hiding?

There are no safe havens for Sorrow or Golmarr—not even with each other—and the stakes couldn’t be higher as they risk everything to protect their kingdom.

Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo, Spindle Fire is an enthralling, wholly original re-imagining of a classic faerie story.

Despite their differences, the sisters have always been extremely close.
And then everything changes, with a single drop of Aurora’s blood, a Faerie Queen who is preparing for war, a strange and enchanting dream realm—and a sleep so deep it cannot be broken.
Spindle Fire is a tour de force fantasy set in the dwindling, deliciously corrupt world of the fae, and featuring two truly unforgettable heroines.
