Author: Colleen Houck
Hardback Edition, 384 pages

Publisher: Atria Books

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

I LOVED this book! Shout out for the Rodan + Fields mention😉😍. I have never thought much about what it is like for a woman to truly be in love with a man that has physically hurt her. My favorite chapter was the one where Lily gave birth to her daughter. That gave me all the feels...anger, happiness, hope and peace!

Those questions she asked Ryle...heartbreaking! I cried like a baby. I fell in love with Ryle as well and it was so hard to stay mad at him. I seriously loved everything about this book! Colleen Houck is now on my list of favorite authors!!! What an amazing book!! I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and a beautiful story!!

  Outstanding writing! 5 stars!!

How To Mend A Heart is a children's book that is filled with  beautiful illustrations full of bright colors and a sweet story that shows kids how important it is to help one another and be kind to each other.

I love the diversity that is reflected in the book especially the page that is nothing but beautifully drawn hands of all races and colors.

How To Mend A  Heart teaches kids that you had to work hard and be determined to reach your goals no matter how big or small they are. I loved how the characters are simple enough so that children can connect and relate to them.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and so did my eight year old son. We have read it several nights before bed and he absolutely loves it.

FFBC Blog Tour, Review, & Giveaway: Velvet (Temple West)

Velvet
by Temple West
Publisher: Swoon Reads
Release Date: May 12th 2015
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Vampires
Rate: 5 STARS!!!!
First rule of dealing with hot vampire bodyguards? Don't fall in love.
After losing both her parents before age seventeen, aspiring designer Caitlin Holte feels like her whole world has been turned upside down, and that was before the terrifying encounter with a supernatural force. Then, she learns that her hot bad-boy neighbor, Adrian—who might have just saved her life—is actually a half-demon vampire.
Suddenly Caitlin is stuck with a vampire bodyguard who feels that the best way to protect her is to become her pretend boyfriend. Trouble is, Caitlin is starting to fall in love for real, while Adrian can never love a human. Caitlin trusts Adrian to keep her safe from his demon father, but will he be able to protect her heart?

Velvet is a young adult paranormal romance that brings about a different take on vampires. Ever since Twilight I have been a huge fan of vampires and romance. There are so many different aspects that can be written about vampires and humans and so many more ways to make them fascinating.

I thought Velvet did a great job of mixing the vampire culture with humans. Temple West brought enough back story and information into the book to not leave wonder about the vampires in the story.

The main characters Caitlin and Adrian reminded me of Bella and Edward but still had very different images they portrayed.

There is so much action and suspense in this story....There is a new twist to vampires that is also introduced and I really enjoyed it. I also liked the way Caitlin and Adrian were not "instant" lovers....they became friends first and then moved onto romance. This made their relationship more believable.

He searched my eyes for a moment, then leaned down, hovering half a centimeter away, giving me the chance to pull back.

But I didn’t.

So he kissed me.

Even while it was happening, I wondered if I could count this as my first “real” kiss—because in the end, it wasn’t really real. It was soft and slow and perfect and it sucked because I wanted this, but not like this.

Overall Velvet was an amazing young adult paranormal novel that fans of Twilight will absolutely love!!! I definitely recommend it!!!

“Sorry I dragged you away from dinner,” I said, realizing the time. “You want to eat with us?”
He seemed to consider it, then shook his head. “I’d better get back. Gotta take my medication.”
I arched a brow questioningly. “I thought your immune system kicked ass?”
He laughed. “Sorry, ‘medication’ is what we call it when we need to drink blood. It’s kind of an inside joke.”
“Oh.” I said, blushing for some reason. I should have kept my mouth shut, but curiosity got the better of me. “Does it…taste good?”
He stared at me for a long moment, before his gaze drifted down to my neck.
“You can’t imagine.”
My pulse jumped, half in fear and half in…something else. His voice had gone low and liquid, his eyes were burning silver.
“Hey Cait?” he murmured, and though he hadn’t moved an inch, it felt as though he were leaning towards me.
“Yeah?” I whispered.
He wasn’t looking at me in the eye anymore, just staring somewhere above my chest and below my jaw. The sound of my own heart seemed loud in my ears, and if I could hear it, so could Adrian.
His eyes flicked to my face. “You should really get out now.”
I blinked. “Yeah.”

I scrambled to undo my seatbelt and almost fell out of the truck. I could hear the click of the automatic locks snapping into place the moment the door was closed. Adrian peeled out of the driveway, back into darkness.

Armed with a very shiny English degree, she spent four months in Oxford holed up at the Radcliffe Camera amongst the hush of ancient books and the rich musk of academia. Returning to Los Angeles, she acquired a concurrent degree in film, mostly as an excuse to write essays about The Princess Bride and Hook. She can sew (poorly), drive stick (please fasten your seatbelt), and mostly lift her feet off the ground while stuttering into first gear on a very small motorcycle. "It is silence,
 not screams of terror,
which proclaims the end of the world…"

I mean how can you not want to read this book after reading that sentence?? Seriously!!! Even if I had not already known that Rhiannon Frater is a phenomenal writer....that one sentence would have made me pick this book up!!!!

Rhiannon Frater is the author who first introduced me to zombies. I had been in an serious book slump and someone had posted online that I should read As The World Dies by Rhiannon Frater....so I decided to give it a try. I read As The World Dies in one sitting and read the rest of the series within a weekend. I am now a huge fan of Rhiannon's and love her writing style.

Rhiannon captures the essence of humanity and makes the reader completely connect with the characters in her novels. Each character is so real and vulnerable and I always feel like I can relate to at least one of her characters in her books.

In The Mesmerized, Minji Nordim and her family are vacationing in Las Vegas and are getting ready to head back home when disaster strikes. Minji feels a strange sensation and then watches in horror as everyone around her either goes completely still or is screaming in pain. Some of the people begin to bleed all over the body and some are just standing still. Minji discovers that she and her two daughters are not affected by whatever is attacking the rest of the world but her husband is.

"Screams echoed through the vast resort in a horrifying chorus. All around her, people flailed about, or gripped their heads in their hands. Jake grunted and stumbled as Bailey let out a shrill cry. Woozy, Minji reached for her screaming baby just as another stab of unbearable agony tore through her brain, blinding her. Rapidly blinking her eyes, she desperately attempted to restore her sight."

The Mesmerized is a post-apocalyptic book that has it all..unspeakable horror, intense action scenes, and a twist that no one will see coming. This is the beginning of an incredible journey for Minji that will keep the reader flipping pages deep into the night. As is in the name of the book....I was completely "Mesmerized" by this novel!!! I literally could not put it down. This was so refreshing and different than anything I have read before. I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy sci-fi, action, and suspense. I can't wait to see what Rhiannon Frater writes next!!!
