FFBC Blog Tour, Top Ten List, & Giveaway: The Heir and The Spare (Emily Albright)

The Heir and the Spare
by Emily Albright
Publisher: Merit Press
Release Date: January 18th 2016
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Chick Lit, British Literature, New Adult

Family can be complicated. Especially when skeletons from the past pop up unexpectedly. For American Evie Gray, finding out her deceased mother had a secret identity, and not one of the caped crusader variety, was quite the surprise. Evie’s mom had a secret life before she was even born, one that involved tiaras.
In this modern day fairytale, Evie is on a path to figure out who her mom really was, while discovering for herself what the future will hold. Charged with her late mother’s letters, Evie embarks on a quest into her past. The first item on the list is to attend Oxford, her mom’s alma mater. There, Evie stumbles upon a real life prince charming, Edmund Stuart the second Prince of England, who is all too happy to be the counterpart to her damsel in distress.
Evie can’t resist her growing attraction to Edmund as they spend more time together trying to unravel the clues her mother left behind. But, when doubts arise as to whether or not Edmund could ever be with an untitled American, what really ends up unraveling is Evie’s heart. When Evie uncovers all the facts about her mom’s former life, she realizes her mom’s past can open doors she never dreamed possible, doors that can help her be with Edmund. But, with everything now unveiled, Evie starts to crack under the pressure of new family responsibilities and the realization that her perfect prince may want her for all the wrong reasons.

Nicole was born in the suburbs of upstate New York, and began writing poems about unicorns and rainbows at a very early age. She detoured into acting, earned a BFA from Emerson College, and moved to NYC where she performed in lots of off-off-off-Broadway Shakespeare. After a decade of schlepping groceries on the subway, she and her husband hightailed it to sunny Los Angeles, where they now reside, surrounded by fruit trees, with their young daughter and two oddball cats. She is also the author of THE TWIN WILLOWS TRILOGY, published by Medallion Press. The first book, WINTER FALLS, is available now.

Ten Songs that belong on a Twin Willows Soundtrack

I make a playlist for every book I write. I need music when I write; it really helps me sink into the world of the book and into the character’s mind. This is just a small selection of songs that are on my Twin Willows playlist. Most of the songs remind me of Alessia, or of Jonah and Alessia’s relationship, but I’ve noted a couple that are inspired by the other characters.

“Howl”

Florence & The Machine

“Wolf”

First Aid Kit

“She Lit A Fire”

Lord Huron

Note: This is Heath’s torch song about Nerina.

“This Tornado Loves You”

Neko Case

“Soaring High, Soaring Low”

Dian Booth

Note:
This song is about the Waterfall. There’s rushing water sounds in it so I would often listen to this when I wrote scenes set at the Waterfall.

“Cosmic Love”

Florence & The Machine

“Lanterns”

Birds of Tokyo

“Elastic Heart”

Sia

Note: This song is Bree’s anthem. There is a scene of hers in THE BLUE WOODS that was so emotional for me to write that I played this song on repeat while I wrote it.

“Animal”

Neon Trees

“Hunting My Dress”

Jesca Hoop

Ten Random Things about Barrie Summy

It is dangerous for me to let black licorice into the house. I love it too much and will eat it until I am ill.

Along with black licorice, I am addicted to audio books. And stationery products.

I have successfully bred veiled chameleons. They are surprisingly loveable.

I’ve wanted to adopt a child since I was 10 years old. I eventually got around to it. Highly recommended.

I’ve usually got two books going: one audio, one print

I recently got a FitBit. Watch out world!

I am chatty. Very, very chatty.

I don’t watch enough television.

I wanted to grow up and write a Nancy Drew mystery.

I will never zipline again. Never. No matter how much my children beg.

Thanks for hosting me, Curling Up With A Good Book!

YA Bound Blog Tours, Tens List, & Giveaway: Dream Of Me (Quinn Loftis)

Dream of Me (Dream Maker #1)by Quinn Loftis
Release Date: 02/28/15

“In the evening… [he] blows softly upon their necks, till their heads begin to droop. […] Under each arm he carries an umbrella; one of them, with pictures on the inside, he spreads over the good children, and then they dream the most beautiful stories the whole night.” ~ Hans Christian Anderson
Since the dawn of time, Brudair, otherwise known as the Sandman to the world, has faithfully lived out his purpose, faithfully performed his duties. He has never questioned his lot among the immortals, until now, until her. Sarah Serenity Tillman, a consummate beauty both inside and out, is a high school senior five months from her graduation. She has great plans, dreams of leaving the small town of her childhood behind her forever. But destiny has other plans, and it’s the Sandman’s job to make sure those plans are fulfilled.
The tall muscular Sandman, known as Dair to his friends, dressed in black, wrapped in shadows, is more than a myth. And he has a job to do. His very existence makes him a creature of the night, because dreams, (yes the legends got that part right), were indeed his specialty. But his purpose was more than just weaving dreams for sleeping children. No, his dreams were made to influence, made to ensure that certain special individuals, those individuals who would change the course of history, actually accepted their chosen destiny.
Little does Serenity know that she is Dair’s next assignment. And the dream that he weaves for her, if she follows its influence, will change the course of, not only her life, but possibly the whole of history as well. But she isn’t the only one being influenced. The beauty inside of her was weighing on the Sandman, lighting up the darkness that was his constant companion. Her light was warmth, it was life, and he didn’t understand how he had survived the previous millennia without it.
The Sandman was indeed greater than anything humans had ever imagined, and his purpose was vital to the course of history. So what happens when the weaver of dreams gets so distracted by a mere human that he ignores his own duties in the immortal realm? How can an immortal who was never meant to have a mate, join a young woman in her destiny without irrevocably changing the lives of millions and potentially altering history in a way the Creator never intended?

INTO THE STORM
Author: Lisa Bingham
Release Date: March 31, 2015
Publisher: Diversion Books

RueAnn Boggs meets Charles Tolliver, a handsome Brit with a secret job, and in the course of twenty-four hours, RueAnn is swept off her feet—seduced, wed, and then left by dashing Charlie, who hastily departs for an assignment in England. When weeks go by and she hears nothing from her new husband, RueAnn becomes determined to find out if she’s a wife in name only, and she travels to London for answers. But what she finds there is not at all what she expects…
Susan Blunt has spent her life staying put, retreating into her books while her vivacious twin sister, Sara, lives life to the fullest. The start of the war hasn’t stopped vibrant Sara from collecting a throng of beaus in uniform, including Paul Overdone, an RAF pilot heading for the front. When Sara pressures Susan into switching places and going to a dance with Paul, Susan reluctantly agrees. Little does Susan know that a single night is more than enough time to fall deeply in love with Paul—who returns her ardor, even though he thinks she is someone else…
When the Blitz begins and bombs start raining down on London, both RueAnn and Susan must find the strength and courage they never knew they had in order to survive. They form a friendship out of the city’s ashes, one that helps them weather the storm as they wait for news from the front—from the men they love, have lost, and hope desperately to find once more.
Set against the backdrop of a remarkable era, Into the Storm brilliantly explores relationships in wartime, when the passion shared in just one day could sustain love for a lifetime and the love borne of one night’s deception could become the truth that saves a life.
