Fans of Maggie Stiefvater and the hit television show True Blood will flock to this first book in the supernatural mystery series set in a town where werewolves live in plain sight.
Mackenzie Dobson's life has been turned upside down since she vowed to hunt her best friend Amy's killer: a white werewolf. Lupine syndrome—also known as the werewolf virus—is on the rise across the country, and bloodlust is not easy to control. But it soon becomes clear that dangerous secrets are lurking in the shadows of Hemlock, Mac's hometown—and she is thrown into a maelstrom of violence and betrayal that puts her in grave danger.
Kathleen Peacock's thrilling debut novel provides readers with a mystery that Kimberly Derting, author of The Body Finder, calls "clever and frightening," while Sophie Jordan, New York Times bestselling author ofFirelight, raves: "Forget every werewolf book you've ever read. This one breaks the mold."

Kathleen Peacock
Kathleen spent her teen years crushing on authors and writing short stories about vampires. She put her writing dreams on hold while attending art school, but tripped over them when office life left her feeling restless.

Kathleen is Canadian and likely to perish in the first wave of the zombie apocalypse.

First of all the cover for this book is just gorgeous. The colors are beautiful and the cover model looks so sad...It just drew me in immediately. Not to mention the synopsis is a story about werewolves!! I mean who doesn't love a good werewolf story!!

Going in I thought this was just your standard mysterious werewolf story but I was so wrong. Werewolves are not secret...The world knows they exist and there are actually camps where they keep them. People do think that the werewolves are "sick" though...Infected people who are bitten and get the lupine syndrome are taken to camps to live out there lives.

The main character, Mac, has just dealt with the death of her best friend, Amy, whom people assume was killed by a werewolf. Mac is determined to find out the truth behind who killed Amy and why.

During the story, Mac, falls for her long-time friend, Kyle, and discovers secrets about him that she never would have imagined. There are so many twists and secrets in this story. Mac and Kyle have to fight to discover the truth about Amy's killer and the secrets that surround Hemlock.

I truly loved this story. I was fascinated from the beginning. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I can say some things truly shocked me. Fans of Twilight will love this story. It has a romance along with suspense and was a strong 4 stars!!!

Thornhill, the sequel to Hemlock will be released on September 10, 2013.
