In the midst of a struggle for control of his pack, eighteen-year-old werewolf enforcer-to-be Luke Stanton meets the one girl who will destroy everything…or complete him.
Eighteen-year-old Luke Stanton is focused, strong, and intimidating as hell. He has to be. As the future enforcer of Red Ridge, it will be his job to keep the other weres in line. So avoiding close friendships, pack drama, and especially pack females is in his best interest. He witnessed firsthand what love did to his father, so casual human hookups are enough.
Then she arrives: Scarlett Reed. She arouses something primal in him, something undeniable. But just as Luke gives himself permission to finally experience something real, the truth bursts free. The were beauty is harboring a secret so devastating it has the power to destroy him. At the same time, the pack is splintering over a battle for leadership, and Luke’s strength is needed more than ever. It is a time of upheaval, of the destructive power of lies. Everything he thought to protect is in danger: his family, his friends…and most of all, his heart.

"My big plan to run until Scarlett was completely off my mind backfired on me within the first five minutes. I had barely made it passed the lake when I first noticed it. Immediately, I slowed to a walk, raising my nose and taking in a deep breath. The scent was faint at first, unrecognizable, but as I continued to follow it, the more and more my heart raced. Then I knew without a doubt who that scent belonged to. It was as fiery and spicy as its owner.
I should have turned and walked away. I should have known what would happen if I followed it, but there was something about that scent that called to me. With every inhale the blood flowing inside of me surged, and my chest tightened. The closer I came to her luscious scent, the more overwhelming the need to touch her, to taste her, to have her scent on my body became. By the time she came into view, my entire body was alive, and I was fighting to control the animal inside me.
Scarlett stood there in the woods, the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen. The current of electricity flowing between us was nearly visible. We stood there just looking at each other, a good fifty feet of forest separating us, but I had never felt closer to anyone before in my life. The moment felt intimate on a level I had never experienced. I was so entranced by her that I was only vaguely aware that she was walking my way.
When she stopped before me, we were so close I could actually feel warmth radiating from her rich, dark fur. The way her eyes were studying me told me that she was as equally intrigued with me as I was with her. She took a hesitant step to the right and continued her examination. As she circled me, I could hear her inhale deeply, taking my scent inside of her. The deep little growl of appreciation that escaped her nearly did me in. It took every ounce of restraint to just stand there and let her be in charge of this. I wanted—no, needed—to dominate, to chase her down and show her exactly who she was playing with."
