When a mysterious stranger is your only hope...
The scars of the past have left their mark, both physical and emotional, on former military pilot Seth Erickson. Off-grid in the far reaches of the bitter Alaskan wilderness, he wants only to be left alone with his ghosts. But he can’t ignore a woman in need—beautiful, stranded and nearly frozen with fear.
Summer Silva never imagined that the search for her missing sister would leave her abandoned on a wintry back road, barely escaping with her life from a cold-blooded killer for hire. Now, hiding out in the isolated cabin of the secretive wounded warrior who saved her, Summer knows she must do what she fears most. Putting her trust in a stranger is all she has left.
All defenses are down
After a fiery first night together, Seth and Summer are bound by a need as powerful as a Bering Sea superstorm—and vulnerable to enemies just as fierce. For Seth, reawakened by desire, there is no sacrifice too great, no memory too dark, to keep Summer safe. But murder and treason lurk everywhere and Summer may not survive Alaska’s ruthless winter.

Anna del Mar writes hot, smart romances that soothe the soul, challenge the mind, and satisfy the heart. Her stories focus on strong heroines struggling to find their place in the world and the brave, sexy, kickass, military heroes who defy the limits of their broken bodies to protect the women they love. She is the author of The Asset (Carina Press), the first novel of her Wounded Warrior series and three other novels scheduled for release during 2016.

A Georgetown University graduate, Anna enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and the sea. Writing is her addiction, her drug of choice, and what she wants to do all the time. The extraordinary men and women she met during her years as a Navy wife inspire the fabulous heroes and heroines at the center of her stories. When she stays put—which doesn’t happen very often—she lives in Florida with her indulgent husband and two very opinionated cats.

1. What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

I wrote The Stranger after my kids dragged me out of the comfort of my writing studio. I’m not exactly the outdoor type, you know, but Alaska was totally stunning and irresistible to my writer’s mind. Hiking the backcountry, riding in tiny airplanes, floating in aluminum boats over icy lakes, it was all new to me. I knew I wanted to drop a couple of feisty characters haunted by their demons in the middle of all that spectacular, ruthless beauty and watch them deal with the challenges as their lust turned to love and then into forever love.

In The Stranger, Alaskan tycoon and ex-military pilot Seth Erickson is fighting his own demons, but when he finds Summer Silva, a beautiful, warmth-loving, Miami woman stranded in the frozen wilderness, he’ll do everything in his power to keep her safe from murder, treason, and the ruthless Alaskan winter.

2. Who is your favorite character in The Stranger

I love Seth Erickson. He’s a powerful Alaskan tycoon dealing with a quarreling family and a hostile takeover attempt. He’s also a helicopter pilot, a wounded warrior struggling to recover from injuries he sustained while serving in Afghanistan, a man haunted by his past and fighting his own demons. And did I mention that he’s delectable? Seth is the classic alpha, blunt, systematic and precise, always cool and in command, a man who despises emotion and sticks to his icy logic… that is, until he meets The Stranger’s heroine, Summer Silva. When his ice melts under her fire, then we’ve got a story going.

3. Which came first, the title or the novel?

The novel came first. In fact, I had several working titles for this book. The first was Dream Chaser. Then it was Summer in Alaska, followed by Alaskan Summer. Then the talented folks at Carina Press suggested The Stranger. We snatched it up and we were in business.

4. What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?

Good question! There were a few. I have to say that from a fun point of view, I love the scene where Summer’s frightened by an Alaskan brown bear, which is a grizzly in the lower forty-eight. It was inspired by my very own surprising encounter with a blond bruin, so I think I know exactly how Summer felt. The flying scenes are near and dear to my heart as well, since I flew some of those routes during the research phase.

5. Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you've learned as a writer from then to now?

Patience, grit and perseverance. She who writes to The End gets to tell the story.

6. What do you like most about the cover of the book?

I think the cover of The Stranger is a combination of different types of gorgeous. There’s nature’s beauty, of course, nicely displayed in the background as the legendary Alaskan Range rises over the tundra and reflects on a glassy lake. Very appropriate, since Alaska is the third protagonist of this epic romance. But then there’s the human gorgeousness, the hunk who graces the cover and still to this day makes me swoon every time I set my eyes on him. Yep, I like him a lot.

7. What’s up next for you?

Well, let’s see. The Stranger is my newest romantic suspense and the second book of my Wounded Warrior Series, following on the heels of the Amazon bestseller, The Asset. One very cool fact about the series is that you don’t have to read the books in any particular order. Each novel is a standalone journey.

I just penned The End of my newest romantic suspense, the third novel of the Wounded Warrior series, tentatively entitled The Game Warden. For research, I went to Africa. Someone had to make the huge sacrifice. Right?

In The Game Warden, Jade Romo, an ex-marine turned YouTube photojournalist travels to Africa and faces the ruthless poachers who want her dead and Matthias Hawking, the mysterious game warden determined to capture her heart.

I also write an erotic romance series which pushes the boundaries of my romantic suspense by ramping up to maximum heat. I call it my naughty series for my naughty readers. Following on the May release of At the Brink, To the Edge is out in November. The story goes something like this:

To learn about kink, Clara Luz had to learn the ropes, but she never expected to be so compromised she’d need rescuing by none other than Noah Blake, the first man she ever loved, the ex-Navy SEAL who almost destroyed her, the wounded warrior determined to reclaim Clara’s heart and fight for redemption to the very edge of sexual obsession.

I can’t wait to introduce Matthias and Jade and Noah and Clara to my readers.

10. Is there anything that you would like to add?

Thank you so much for having me over. If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure set against Alaskan’s majestic background with a heroine who is completely out of her element but relentlessly brave and an alpha hero who will do anything to protect her, then The Stranger is for you.
