Book Nerd Tours Blog Tour, Tens List, & Giveaway: Betrayal (Lara Morgan)

Displaying Betrayal.JPG
From fantasy writer Lara Morgan comes the second in her engrossing, enchanting, exciting Twins of Saranthium trilogy, perfect for curbing Game of Thrones withdrawals.
Shaan and Tallis have escaped from the fallen god, Azoth, but his dark shadow stretches over the enslaved the people of the Wild Lands and the terrifying army of human‐serpent warriors. War is coming, but the Council of Nine turn from the twins and their tales of Azoth's menace, focusing instead on a war on the Free Lands.
Meanwhile, the Four Lost Gods have awoken, ready to reclaim the Birthstone currently in Azoth's possession. But rather than the saviours Shaan and Tallis needed, the Four begin to exert terrible control over the people of Saranthium. With Tallis struggling to control the might power within, and Shaan attempting to resist the pull of Azoth, the twins are under assault from all sides. Victory may still be possible, but only through a devastating act of betrayal.

Lara Morgan has loved fantasy since her mother first read her The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (those Dark Riders still give her the shivers) and her book shelves are stacked precariously with more fantastical adventures than she will probably be able to read in one lifetime. She loves feisty heroines and heroes with depth and prefers to create villains in shades of grey rather than black and white, taking a tip from one of her personal heroes Joss Whedon who said: “All villains believe they are the hero of the story”.
Lara also writes for young adults and you can find her online at www.lara‐morgan.com or blogging when she has time at www.laramorgan.wordpress.com and on twitter @Lara_Morgan.
She lives in Geraldton, Western Australia, with her husband and son.

Top Ten List – Things you would change about your high school years if you could go back in time.

I went to high school in the 80s and wanted to be Molly Ringwald, but was really more like the weird girl in Breakfast Club – minus the dandruff.  This is what I would tell myself if I had a De Lorean to go back in time…
1.       Do not perm your hair! Seriously it is a huge mistake. HUGE.
2.       Wearing that really bright shirt will not make you more outgoing, and orange and polka dots don’t go together.
3.       One day all the reading and writing will pay off so it’s ok to go to the library if you want to.
4.       Being able to catch a ball is as overrated as you suspect
5.       The boy who keeps making fun of your larger than the Aussie average lips, actually has a crush on you – but is still a douche and you should stare him down like the insect he is.
6.       One day you will be able to speak in public without dying of embarrassment and also make sense
7.       You’re not going to marry Tom Cruise. But this is a good thing cos he turns out to be a leetle crazy.
8.       You will get to see the world so don’t panic.
9.       Those snarky girls are talking about you behind your back and aren’t your friends. Drop them
10.   Enjoy the parties and your time in school because being an adult is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Book Nerd Blog Tour, Review, & Giveaway: Rebel (Amy Tintera)

Displaying 15769788.jpgHardcover, 352 pages
Expected publication: May 13th 2014 by HarperTeen
ARC Provided by Publisher for Honest Review

The sequel to the action-packed Reboot is a can't-miss thrill ride, perfect for fans of James Patterson, Veronica Roth, and Marie Lu.
After coming back from death as Reboots and being trained by HARC as soldiers, Wren and Callum have finally escaped north, where they hope to find a life of freedom. But when they arrive at the Reboot Reservation, it isn't what they expected. Under the rule of a bloodthirsty leader, Micah, the Reboots are about to wage an all-out war on the humans. Although Wren's instincts are telling her to set off into the wilderness on their own and leave the battle far behind, Callum is unwilling to let his human family be murdered. When Micah commits the ultimate betrayal, the choice is made for them. But Micah has also made a fatal mistake . . . he's underestimated Wren and Callum.
The explosive finale to the Reboot duology is full of riveting action and steamy love scenes as Wren and Callum become rebels against their own kind.

Amy Tintera
Hi! I’m Amy Tintera, and I write novels for young adults. I grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in journalism. After receiving a masters in film at Emerson College I moved to Los Angeles, where I promptly discovered I didn’t enjoy working in the film industry, and went back to my first love, writing.
REBOOT and REBEL are published by HarperCollins/HarperTeen. Film rights have been optioned by Fox, and the books have sold in ten countries.

"Wren was silent.
She stood completely still next to me, staring straight ahead with that look she got sometimes, like she was either happy or plotting to kill someone. Either way, I loved that look."

Ummm YES! If that opening line doesn't make you want to read this book than not sure what will!!! I have been looking forward to reading Rebel for SOOOO long! Reboot was one of my favorite books from last year! It was totally different than anything I have ever read before. "Zombies" are now called Reboots and come back to life with all the aspects of a human life except they can't be killed! This is what happens to the main character, Wren, and she was sent to a institute where she trains new Reboots.

In Reboot, Wren meets Callum and together they face unspeakable danger and have to escape their surroundings in order to survive. Wren and Callum also begin to get closer to each other and before they know it they have fell in love. Wren and Callum devise a plan to escape and help other Reboots..and this is where Rebel picks up.

"Callum, there's one person here who has a plan,"she said, casting an amused look at me. "And it's you. So, go. Start getting it together. I'll pack up our tent and help Riley with the weapons."

Reboot is the introduction to the story and also is where you learn the true depths of the characters and their actions. Rebel throws us right into non-stop action and swoon-worthy romance. Rebel has so many intense action scenes that I found myself flipping pages faster and faster just to see what would happen next!!

I love the dual point-of-view that Rebel offers. It helps the reader truly see how much these two characters love each other and how strong their will to survive is. The introduction of all the new characters truly makes the story as well. Each character is so critically important to the story. Are they good? Are they evil? Can they be trusted? Those are the questions that Wren and Callum ask themselves frequently.

When Wren, Callum, and all the escaped Reboots make it to this new "camp"....they enter it with trepidation and caution and they soon realize that they were right to be cautious. The "camp" has so many dark secrets that Wren and Callum uncover and they immediately question their choice to live there.

This duology is amazing. Amy Tintera is a phenomenal writer and puts just enough action, drama, and romance to make this book exceptional!!! Amy Tintera has blasted her way into the YA industry with this incredible duology and fans of dystopian genres are going to devour Rebel and Reboot!!!!

Book Nerd Tours Blog Tour, Review, & Giveaway: Tremor (Patrick Carman)

OK First THANK YOU to Book Nerd Tours and Patrick Carman for allowing me on the tour for this phenomenal book!! I am obsessed with this series and Patrick Carman! Not only are his books incredible but he is a ROCKSTAR AUTHOR!! He is so awesome about responding to his fans! Authors like that make book blogging worthwhile!!! Also the publisher for this book, Katherine Tegan, is one of my most favorite publishers! She releases awesome books and is just as friendly and responsive as Patrick!!

In the year 2051, some people have a second pulse…
Like all who have “the pulse,” Faith Daniels and Dylan Gilmore have telekinetic powers—they can move objects with their minds. But there are five “second pulses” in the world who have an even greater power: Almost nothing can harm them. They are virtually indestructible.
Both Faith and Dylan have the second pulse. But the other side has second pulses, too, and they’ve been training for a war that has been brewing their entire lives. As Dylan executes a plan to infiltrate enemy grounds, he’ll have to face his only weakness, and a family secret that will threaten his very existence.
Together, Faith and Dylan are the only hope this world has left, but they must go their separate ways in order to accomplish their plan. Will their love survive?
With richly developed characters and heart-pounding action scenes, the second book in Patrick Carman’s Pulse trilogy continues the electrifying dystopian story of love and revenge.

Patrick Carman is the award-winning author of many books for young adults and children. He grew up in Salem, Oregon, and graduated from Willamette University. His birthday is February 27th, 1966. He spent a decade living in Portland, where he worked in advertising, game design, and technology.
Patrick Carman writes books for young adults and children for Scholastic, Harper Collins, and Little Brown Books For Young Readers. His bestselling books and series includes The Land of Elyon, Atherton, Elliot’s Park, 39 Clues, Floors, Trackers, Thirteen Days to Midnight, Dark Eden, Pulse, 3:15, and Skeleton Creek. Mr. Carman’s books have been translated into approximately two dozen languages.
Mr. Carman spends his free time supporting literacy campaigns and community organizations, fly fishing, playing basketball, golfing badly, doing crosswords, watching movies, dabbling in video games, reading (lots), and (more than anything else) spending time with his wife and two daughters.

I am just absolutely fascinated with dystopian young adult novels. They all seem to have the perfect mix of romance, drama, and excitement and Tremor is HIGH on the list. WOW. I absolutely loved Pulse when I reviewed it so I knew I couldn't wait to get my hands on the sequel, Tremor and I was so right. Tremor is a phenomenally written young adult dystopian story. The characters are incredible and the plot is so full of twists and turns. I also love how technology has evolved so much in this futuristic world. Technology plays such a huge part in our society now and just the thought that one day it could affect us like it affects these characters is....WILD..

"EVERYONE FEELS THE TREMOR. FEW KNOW ITS POWER."

It is very rare for a sequel to overcome its predeccsor but Tremor does. I believe it was even better than Pulse and really brings you into the story and the characters lives. The characters are all so phenomenal and are so deeply woven into this story.

"There will be five. Five second pulses, he had told her. No more, no less. It is ordained. Two will be twins, so really in a sense, there will be four. One of these two is a doppelganger, a black mirror, a balance. "

Faith is just a remarkable character who is strong, independent, and has overcome so many trials. She is a survivor who knows exactly the risks she has to take to overcome the evil in the world and help to bring justice to this new world.

Dylan...ah where do I start with Dylan?? We really get to know him and his background in this story. If you read my review for Pulse then you know that this is exactly what I was hoping for. I wanted more Dylan and Faith and to know more about what has made them who they are today. Their love is just incredible. Patrick Carman writes their stories in such a way that I feel as though I am experiencing all these heartaches and emotions with them. I just love it.

There are also some new villains that are introduced in this story and boy are they villains. Of course Wade and Clara are still evil and UGH they make me so mad. I am hoping that one day they get exactly what is coming to them...(that is all i will say about that)

Of course, Hawk is back and he is one of my favorite characters. I love that he is so quirky and so intelligent. He plays an important character who is just fun loving and every reader will adore him.

There is so much action and intensity in this sequel and I found myself turning pages deep into the night. I just had to know what was going to happen next. Patrick Carman is such a talented writer and his characters are so rich and phenomenal. I cannot say enough how much I loved this book!!! I am already itching for the conclusion! I have to know what happens next...like NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
