Born in London, an only child with an overactive imagination, Sam spent much of her childhood telling ghost stories to her younger cousins and dreaming about far away places. She graduated university with a BA in marketing, but it wasn't long before her passion for storytelling and travel got the better of her. She currently lives in Sydney, Australia, where you'll probably find her hidden away in the corner of a park somewhere - writing, reading, dreaming or watching movies on her iPad. She loves everything spy and assassin and has a slightly unhealthy obsession with Star Wars, mainly Darth Vader.

What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

Mainly, a love of all things spy (Bond, Bourne) and romance – I thought it would be fun to combine the two.

Who is your favorite character in the book?

I like different characters for different reasons, but if I had to choose I’d probably say Kalen.

Which came first, the title or the novel?

The novel. I thought long and hard about the titles and ended up going with army terms that could hold a double meaning that rang true with each book.

What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?

In book one, probably the scene where Kalen steps in to stop Ronnie’s boyfriend getting beaten up. There are a few different emotions, significant to how the novel plays out, at work in this scene and I hope it shows a few of the characters in a new light.

Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you’ve learned as a writer from then to now?

I think the most important thing is to write what makes you happy. Not everyone is going to love what you write, but as long as you are confident in your story and your characters you can take the criticism along with the praise. It’s important to believe in yourself.

What do you like most about the cover of the book?

The model, she is just how I imagined Ronnie to be. I was very lucky.

What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2013?

City of Heavenly Fire (Cassandra Clare), but I think that’s maybe not until 2014! I’ve read all five preceding books, so it will be nice to know how it all ends.

What was your favorite book in 2012?

Savages - Don Winslow.

What’s up next for you?

I’m currently writing Becoming, book #3 in the Project Five Fifteen series.

Is there anything that you would like to add?

Thanks for having me on your blog!
