Blog Tour, Interview, and Giveaway: Darker Days (Jus Accardo)

332 pages
Expected publication: August 19th 2013 by Entangled Publishing

Jessie Darker goes to high school during the day, but at night she helps with the family investigation business. Cheating husbands and stolen inheritances? They’re your girls—but their specialty is a bit darker. Zombie in your garage? Pesky Poltergeist living in your pool? They’ll have the problem solved in a magical minute. For a nominal fee, of course...When gorgeous new client, Lukas Scott, saunters into the office requesting their help to find a stolen box, it sounds like a simple case—until the truth comes out. The box is full of Sin.Seven deadly ones, in fact. They’ve got five days to recapture the Sins before they're recalled by the box, taking seven hijacked human bodies with them. Easy peasy—except for one thing...There’s a spell that will allow the Sins to remain free, causing chaos forever. When the key ingredient threatens the life of someone she knows, Jessie must make the ultimate choice between love and family—or lose everything.

Jus Accardo
JUS ACCARDO spent her childhood reading and learning to cook. Determined to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a chef, she applied and was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America. At the last minute, she realized her path lay with fiction, not food, and passed on the spot to pursue writing. Jus is the bestselling author the popular Denazen series from Entangled publishing and is currently working on the first book in a new adult series due out summer 2013. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald.

  1. What gave you the inspiration to write this book?
There really wasn’t anything specific. I was about 2 or 3 chapters into writing TOUCH when I got the general idea. I've always loved Veronica Mars, so maybe that played a subconscious part in it all.
  1. Who is your favorite character in the book?
I know he wasn't a focal point, but I can’t help it. I'm in love with Smokey ;)
  1. Which came first, the title or the novel?
The title. For me, it's always the title! Everything else falls into place once I've got that down.
  1. What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?
I can't say there's just one scene, but I am really happy about how the Jessie/Lukas scenes turned out, and I love the dynamic between Jessie and her mom.
  1. Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you’ve learned as a writer from then to now?
Well, I’d love to say patience, but since I haven't actually learned that (and probably never will) then I'd have to say persistence. Keep at it and you can make it happen.
  1. What do you like most about the cover of the book?
I think the colors are very eye catching and the representation of Jessie is pretty dead on!
  1. What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2013?
It actually released already. Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones. Freaking AWESOME!
  1. What was your favorite book in 2012?
Wow. No way can I pick just one. I loved Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins. And Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas was awesome. Way too many more to list!!
  1. What’s up next for you?
I have a New Adult book coming out at the end of September, and right now, I'm working on the second book in the Darker Agency series.
  1. Is there anything that you would like to add?

Thank you for having me today :D And thank you to everyone who reads about Dez and Kale, and Lukas and Jessie. You guys rock my world!

  1. Interesting sounding novel to say the least. Twist on the seven deadly sins, investigation, magic and mundane. Sounds intriguing to see how the world truly unfolds.

  2. What's in the basket? I hope it's not like what's in the box at the end of Seven.
