Romantic and action-packed, The Replaced is the gripping second installment in the Taking trilogy.
Kyra hasn't been the same since she returned from her mysterious five-year disappearance. Now, on the run from the NSA, Kyra is forced to hide out with others who, like her, have been Returned. Yet she is determined to find Tyler, the boy she loves who was also abducted—all because of her. When her group intercepts a message that Tyler might still be alive but is in the hands of a shadowy government organization that experiments on the Returned, Kyra knows it's a risk to go after him. What if it's a trap? And worse, what if the returned Tyler isn't the same boy she lost?
Perfect for fans of The Fifth Wave and the Body Finder series, The Replaced is both chilling and explosive, with creepy, otherworldly elements and twisty, psychological thrills that will have you questioning what exactly it means to be human.

"Perfect for fans of The Fifth Wave and The Body Finder series, this gripping second installment in The Taking trilogy explores what makes us human....."
So I was first introduced to Kimberly Derting when I picked up her YA trilogy, The Body Finder. I literally flew through that series and became utterly obsessed with Kimberly's writing....When I heard she was coming out with another series..I just could not wait to get my hands on it...and I was not disappointed!! I really loved the first book in this series, The Taking.
The Taking is all about a young girl who re-emerges after being "taken" or kidnapped for over 5 years. It is all about her trying to figure out what happened to her and why. The Replaced is the second installment in this phenomenal young adult sci-fi series and had me turning pages long into the night....
The Replaced opens up with Kyra on the run from the government. She is hiding from the NSA and also searching for other survivors that are being called the "Returned." Kyra finally meets up with the other teenagers who have been taken and returned and she begins to realize that even though they are alike because they were all taken....Kyra is special and different from the rest...Kyra discovers she has powers that make her stand out among the rest.
In The Taking, Kyra falls in love with Tyler, her next door neighbor. Kyra & Tyler went through alot together in the first book and by the end...Tyler was poisoned by touching Kyra's blood and Kyra had no choice but to take him and offer him to the aliens in hopes they would cure him and save his life. In The Replaced, Kyra is searching for Tyler and hoping he is not gone forever. Kyra and her group intercept a message that Tyler may be alive but is being held captive by an underground government organization.
...and now enter the love triangle featuring ....Simon. I did have a little bit of trouble with the love triangle involving Simon....only because I loved Tyler and Kyra together. I loved how he stood by here even after finding out she was taken by aliens....
The Replaced is a fast-paced adrenaline ride for anyone who enjoys science fiction with a little bit of romance....There are lots of questions answered in this amazing sequel to The Taking...but there are also alot more questions that arise.....
Who can Kyra trust? Who is truly her friend for the right reasons?
Why? Why? Why?
