Author Jennifer Peel I'm a Colorado native who currently calls Alabama home. I'm the mother of three amazing children who have grown up way too fast. I enjoy the mountains, vacations at the beach, date night with my husband, late night talks with my kiddos, touring model homes, and pink bubblegum ice cream. I grew up on the Western Slope in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I learned to love the beauty of the outdoors, but not camping--unless staying overnight at the Marriott counts. I met my husband while living in Denver and then several years later we traded the beauty and majesty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains for the art and culture of Chicago, Illinois. House Divided is a story about first loves, heartbreak, and second chances at first love. House Divided is set in Kaysville, Alabama where traditions and family beliefs run deep. The town is divided by football teams...Auburn or Alabama. This is even truer for two specific families in the town. The Eatons have been raised as devout fans of Auburn while the Jacksons are devout fans of Alabama. The two families do not associate and have a rivalry between them that has lasted over 40 years.
Ella Eaton and Brady Jackson have been raised their entire lives to stay far away from each other and to not have any type of contact.....well ....this of course is exactly what draws them to each other. From the first day they meet they become best friends which then turns into a secret, star-crossed romance.
During their Senior year in high school, on Christmas Day, Brady is forced to break up with Ella because of his family. The break up literally tears both of them apart and Ella moves away. Ten years pass and Ella is forced to come back home because her Aunt has become very sick and had a heart attack.
"I was speechless. I loved him. I had broken my aunt’s rules and heart for him. And he, he was the one who pursued me and who had to shout it to the world that we were together. How could he just end it like that? I didn’t understand. The tears began to flow. He tried to wipe them away, but I wouldn’t let him. I didn’t want him to touch me."

House Divided is full of deep family issues, Southern beliefs and traditions, loss and hope, and forbidden love. Being from Alabama...this story really touched home for me. I have been an Auburn fan since the day I was born and have experienced first hand how Auburn/Alabama rivalry really can come between people.
I would recommend House Divided to anyone who is looking for a good, clean romance with plenty of humor and wit intertwined into the story.
