GCR Blog Tour, Review, & Giveaway: The Girlfriend Request (Jodie Andrefski)

The Girlfriend Request by Jodie Andrefski
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance / Romantic Comedy
Publication: January 11th, 2016

Updating best friend to girlfriend is more than a change of status…

Emma has been best friends with Eli since she moved to his neighborhood ten years ago. Tired of being cast in the role of the girl next door, Emma creates a fake Facebook profile in the hopes of starting an online friendship with Eli, which would hopefully lead to more. Like...way more. From friend request to In a Relationship--it all seemed so completely logical when she'd planned it.

Eli can't figure out what Emma is up to. He’s pretty sure she's the one behind the Facebook profile, but then again, why would she do something so drastic instead of just admitting she wants to be more than friends? And who the heck is this new guy he saw her with? Eli starts to think that just maybe...he missed his chance with the girl next door.
Two best friends, one outlandish ruse. Their status is about to become way more than It’s Complicated…

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains one fake Facebook profile, two best friends who secretly crave each other, and a dreaded sex talk with parents…boy crush in the room included. Pushing a relationship beyond the friend zone has never been so crazy…

Jodie Andrefski has been passionate about reading ever since she was a little girl, when she used to climb trees to escape with a favorite book. She now lives and writes in a small town in Pennsylvania with her teenage daughter. Though still an avid reader, she now prefers a comfy chair over the crook of a tree. An unapologetic coffee fiend, she's even happier if her java comes with pie. Jodie often draws on her background in education and mental health counseling to bring real world experience to her writing. She is a firm believer in the magic of a first kiss, and insists that you should never, ever give up on your dreams.

Man am I glad facebook was not around when I was in high school! This sweet, innocent and heart warming story left me with a goofy grin on my face. If you like high school romance then this book is for you! Emma and Eli have been friends since 1st grade. Now that they are in high school Emma realizes her feelings for Eli are more than just a friend. The only problem is Emma doesn't know how to tell Eli so she comes up with a plan that involves facebook! Will her plan work?!

Will Eli and Emma ever be more than just friends?!
I give The Girlfriend Request 5 stars! I am giving it 5 stars because I think this story is a great example for teens. Always be honest about your feelings even if you think you may get hurt. Never compare yourself to others. Never doubt your value and talents! I also LOVED that these high school kids acted their age but with no drinking, drugs or sex. A true feel good, wholesome young love story!

Eliza Freed graduated from Rutgers University and returned to her hometown in rural South Jersey. Her mother encouraged her to take some time and find herself. After three months of searching, she began to bounce checks and her neighbors began to talk; her mother told her to find a job.
She settled into Corporate America, learning systems and practices and the bureaucracy that slows them. Eliza quickly discovered her creativity and gift for story telling as a corporate trainer and spent years perfecting her presentation skills and studying diversity. It’s during this time she became an avid observer of the characters we meet and the heartaches we endure. Her years of study have taught her laughter is the key to survival, even when it’s completely inappropriate.
She currently lives in New Jersey with her family and a misbehaving beagle named Odin. An avid swimmer, if Eliza is not with her family and friends, she’d rather be underwater. While she enjoys many genres, she has always been a sucker for a love story…the more screwed up the better.

Blog Tour, Guest Post, & Giveaway: Rivulet (Jamie Magee)

Rivulet by Jamie Magee
Expected publication: October 7, 2013

Unfathomable forces have always contested Genevieve Indiana Falcon, known as Indie. The curse of her cold touch entraps her just as the grief ignited in her past torments her. Yet, her mysterious ability to dream while awake saturates her in the belief that she was not always anguished. There is hope that one day a true peace in her soul can be found.
Foolishly, Indie assumes she has contained her life in an odd balance, and she cherishes the visions she sees of the enigmatic boy that held her in a lost time, but can never reach. She grieves for a life she fears she'll never possess, and that grief is a weapon she uses against her aunt who stands between her and her inheritance.
Weeks away from her twenty-first birthday, the date where she would assume control over her family legacy, a night terror robs Indie of the balance she was clinging to. Like the dream she had before she lost her family, it predicts a fatal catastrophe on the horizon. The fight between life and death, good and evil, began the moment her thundering heart awoke her.
Everything changed after that dream. The one thing that keeps her curse at bay is stolen, and then the enigmatic boy arrives in the flesh. Face to face with her fiery born-again lover Indie realizes that the only way she can prevent the tragedy before her is to surrender everything she was, is, and could be.
Can she bend the laws of nature and fight the improbability that fire and ice could ever be one? As far as Indie is concerned, there is not a myth, spoken fate, or curse that is stronger than her stubborn desire to have it all ... including him.

Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she’d never been, introduce her to people she’s never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

When I first starting writing, I found myself reading blogs of other writers wondering if they felt the way I did about this craft, or if I was alone in the obsession I was experiencing.

I remember reading about ‘muses’ and how authors often felt haunted by their characters. I would smile because I too felt haunted. Of course, that haunting was more like a song that you could not get out of your head, or like being locked deep in a daydream, or even writing so fast that my fingers ached and I realized that the entire day had vanished while I was dancing with the fictional beings that bring fire to my soul.

Little did I know that my muses were breaking me in slowly. Being haunted took a new reverence with the creation of Rivulet. Dare I say I was slightly tormented by my muses?

Like anyone, some nights I dream in more detail than others, but all in all I am a regular sleeper, no odd abnormalities had ever occurred in my life before. That all changed in November of 2012. For no reason at all, I had a night terror. It is hard to explain the intensity of that dream in a short post, but let me tell you that I have never known fear until that dream. I have never felt my heart pound as fiercely or even comprehended the saying “fight or flight” properly before that night.

I researched the topic trying to understand why, for no reason, at my age, this dream sprung to life. I have a VERY happy life, so I was worried—really worried. There were countless blogs on the topic, and in the end I finally settled on the idea that the dream was simply caused by stress. (Funny how you are usually the last person that knows you are indeed stressed!)

The best way I have found to comprehend emotions clearly is to write them down, to express them openly with words, even analogies. I decide to use this dream to create a story, or maybe even outline one and see where that topic led me.

After the first chapter of Rivulet was written, I left my wandering concerns behind and fell into the love story that Genevieve Indiana Falcon had to tell me. I’m sure by me telling you this story was spawned out of fear may lead you to believe that it is a dark and twisted story, but it is not. It encompasses the emotion of fear at times, but overall the characters overcome fear and choose to fight for what they can’t live without. Passion.

I sincerely hope that in the future my muses find a more subtle way to tell me to write a story down! At the same time, I know that without that dream, those few short moments where I was able to walk a path that was not mine, this story would not be here today.

I’m so excited to share it with all of you!

It was great to be here today! Thank you so much for having me!
