Fire & Flood (Fire & Flood, #1)Hardcover, 320 pages
Expected publication: February 25th 2014 by Scholastic Press

A modern day thrill ride, where a teen girl and her animal companion must participate in a breathtaking race to save her brother's life—and her own.

Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.
Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.
The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

SERIOUSLY?? I MEAN SERIOUSLY??? Yeah this book was THAT good! I am already dying to get my hands on the sequel!! This is by far one of my favorite young adult books of 2014! It is full of intense action scenes, drama, survival stories, and yep some incredible romance.

The story is about a young girl, Tella, who is given the chance to enter a competition where the winner will recieve a cure for any illness or disease for ONE person. You have to choose to enter the competition within 48 hours or you lose your chance. Tella does not even think twice about it. She immediately runs off to enter the competition. With no information or background on the competitoin...Tella really has no idea what she is getting into but she will soon learn....and fast.

The competition is called The Brimstone Bleed and will last three months and the competition will take place over four ecosystems: desert, sea, mountains, and jungle. The competitors all get to choose one "Egg" also known as a pandora which will hatch into an animal that has been created in order to help their "Contender" survive the race. I will have to say that this is my favorite part about the entire book. Yes I love the survival story but the pandoras have my heart. I have such a weakness for animals and the pandoras are just phenomenal. I dont want to give away too much about this incredible story that involves these pandoras so you must definitely read this book and experience it for yourself!!!

"If your hearing this message, you are invited to be a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. All contenders must report within forty-eight hours to select their Pandora companions. If you do not appear within forty-eight hours, your invitation will be eliminated."

"The Pandora Selection Process will take place at the Old Red Museum. The Pandora you choose is of the utmost importance, for it will be your only source of assistance throughtout the race."

"The Brimstone Bleed will last three months and will take place across four eco-systems: desert, sea, mountains, jungle. The winning prize will be the Cure-a remedy for any illness, for any single person."

"There can only be one champion."

I love Tella and her character. She is so strong and independant. She loves her family so much and enters the race in order to get the cure for her brother, Cody, who suffers from a illness that could result in death. Along this journey Tella meets so many incredible people. One of my favorites is Guy. When they first meet they do not like each other at all....but of course that changes...and their relationship turns into something so incredible.

"All the fears I've held inside rush out. It's like he's asking for them, saying he'll carry them for me. I press back against him and curl into a ball."

I just love every aspect of this book. Every page has something new and amazing. Their are so many trials and tribulations that Tella has to overcome. One minute I would find myself crying and then the next cheering! This book is one of those that just stays with you and instead of just reading it...You actually EXPERIENCE it. I love Victoria Scott's writing style and she is now on my favorite authors list. I will be reading anything and everything that she writes now!!! WOW!

If you liked Hunger Games, Divergent, or The Testing then you will love this book! Please check it out! It is truly phenomenal!!! I am giving away an ARC to go along with my review so please enter the giveaway for a chance at this amazing suspense-filled book!!!! SEQUEL NEEDED NOW!!!!

I have to give a HUGE shout-out to Scholastic for honoring me with an ARC of this phenomenal book!!! Fire & Flood is just incredible!!!
