Blog Tour: The Circle: Cindy Cipriano

  Circle copy

The Circle Calum Ranson is sure of three things: his cousin Finley is alive, Calum will find him, and no one knows Calum and his family are Sidhe. No one until Laurel shows up at his mother's bookstore wearing a dark clan's mark. When Calum learns the details surrounding the disappearance of Laurel's brother, he suspects the evil Hobayeth clan. Calum and Laurel work together in the Realm of Man and the Otherworld to rescue her brother - revealing a connection between Calum and Laurel that may cost Finley his life.

Author Cindy Cipriano Cindy Cipriano lives in NC with her husband, son, and 27 pets. Okay, more like one cat, three dogs, and many, many fish. Cindy is an award winning science teacher, who this past August celebrated her 12th first day of sixth grade.

  1. What gave you the inspiration to write this book?
So, don't laugh, but as I pondered my predicament during a…um…“time out,” I wondered what I would find beneath a tile in the floor of my room. I imagined going down a long winding staircase, and finding a wisened faerie hunched over a desk working by candlelight. This person became Uilleam Lindsey.  I wrote The Circle around that image, knowing Uilleam would be an important part of the story.
  2. Who is your favorite character in the book?
I really like Donnelly.  I like his dark and mysterious nature, his fierce devotion to his family, and the
fact that he is positively fearless.
  3. Which came first, the title or the novel?
The novel came first, but it was a close call.  I decided on a title very early on, and never changed it.
  4. What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?
It's hard to say, but maybe the scene where Donnelly catches one of the Hobayeth, and in typically Donnelly fashion, convinces the Hobayeth to never return to Emerald Lake.
  5. Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you’ve learned as a writer from then to now?
Looking back, I realize now things would have been a lot easier if I would have joined a critique group sooner.  It would have saved on many months (years?) of editing.
  6. What do you like most about the cover of the book?
I love the whole thing! The cover artist, Paul Summerfield, did an amazing job.  I especially love the blue hues on the front and back.
  7. What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2013?
I'm really interested in reading House of Secrets by Chris Columbus and Ned Vizzini.
  8. What was your favorite book in 2012?

  9. What’s up next for you?
I am writing away on The Lost, book two of the Sidhe series. I hope to have this finished by the end of the summer. Early readers of The Circle have asked me repeatedly what happened to Finley. All will be answered in The Lost.
  10. Is there anything that you would like to add?
I wish to encourage interaction with my readers.  Please visit www.TheSidheSeries.com and share your thoughts about Finley, or send me a note.
    Thanks!
